Zachariah Henry Taylor Myers was born in Missouri about
1846. According to the 1850 and 1860 Schuyler County census records, it
would appear that his was a son of William and Catherine (Reeves)
Myers.
He went by several variations of his name. On the census records he is
listed as Zachariah T. But his marriage and other legal records list
differing variations of his name, with Taylor being the most common.
Taylor grew up in Schuyler County, and on Feb 12, 1871, he married
Lucinda Hulen, a daughter of William and Emily Hulen of Schuyler County.
Taylor and Lucinda were the parents of one known child:
1) Benjamin Myers,
b) ca 1872
Lucinda died on December 26, 1872 in Schuyler County at the age of 21
years, 2 months and 2 days, probably in childbirth. She is buried in
Fabius Cemetery, Schuyler County, Missouri.
Taylor then married Rua Leanna Lasley, a daughter of Nelson and Sarah
(?) Elizabeth Jane (Payton) Lasley August 11, 1874, Schuyler County,
Missouri. While there might have been time enough for one or two children
to have been born to this union, we have no children, and do not know at
this time what became of Rua.
Taylor's third marriage was to Mary Ellen Ball, on Jan 1, 1877, in
Schuyler County, Missouri. Mary Ellen was a daughter of Edward and
Josephine (White) Ball. Taylor and Mary Ellen were the parents of:
1) Peter E.
b) ca 1878 Schuyler Co MO
2) Lulu Hortense
b) 17 Dec 1879 Schuler County, MO
d)20 Nov 1953 Derrahs, Lewis County, MO
m) 8 Apr 1896 Schuyler Co MO, William Henry Greer
3) William
b) ca 1880 Schuyler Co MO

m 2) April 1911, Schuyler Co MO, Maggie Bragg
4) Russell Taylor
b) 22 June 1881 Schuyler Co MO
d)30 Nov 1951, burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Lancaster, Schuyler Co MO
m) unknown
Mary Ellen died June 22, 1885, according to the Schuyler County
Birth/Death record entries, she died in childbirth with her 9th baby, a
boy, who apparently also died, as we have no name or information on this
child.
Taylor married for the fourth time June 22, 1886 to Mattie A.Fisher. He
filed for divorce September 15, 1886, which was granted May 23 1888.
According to the petition, Taylor insisted that he did not even spend one
night with Mattie as husband, due to discovering that Mattie was not the
"virginal" bride he thought she was! To date we have not
discovered what became of Mattie after the divorce.
Taylor's fifth and final marriage was on to Nancy Isabelle
"Belle" Spears, in Schuyler County, Missouri. Together they had
the following children:
1) Frederick
b) 11 April 1890 MO
d)
m)
2) Dora
b) April 1891 MO
d)
m) Mr. Lambert
3) Mary E.
b) Oct 1892 MO

b) 23 Oct 1898, Macon, Macon, MO
d) 11 Nov 1953, Keokuk, Lee, IA
m) 4 Oct 1915, Des Moines, IA, William C. Lonis
Belle was listed as a widow on the 1910 Macon County census, Taylor
having been listed with her in 1900, so he appears to have died somewhere
between 1898 & 1910 census. We do not have Belle's place and date of
death either.
Family lore says that Benjamin, Taylor's first known child, married a
woman named Roxie and was a mail clerk in the St Louis area for a time,
then moved to Hoxie Arkansas.
We have not been able to locate any of the remaining descendants of
Taylor Myers, but hope to in the near future.
